December 11, 2009

Most Admired CompaniesPortland, Ore. - Boyd Coffee Company, a family owned and operated purveyor of fine coffee, tea and foodservice equipment nationwide, ranked Number Three among the Most Admired Companies in the Agriculture and Forest Products Category, as selected by Oregon CEOs and surveyed by the Portland Business Journal. Dick Boyd and David Boyd, Co-CEOs and Presidents of Boyd Coffee Company, accepted the award at a luncheon held on Fri., Dec. 11, 2009.

"I think it's fantastic," said David Boyd, Co-CEO and President of Boyd Coffee Company. "To have the business community recognize our company as a whole, it means everybody who works here and who has worked here is a part of our credo: contributing to a better community. And everyone at Boyd Company is honored with this award."

Dick Boyd, Co-CEO and President, agreed, and added, "Two years ago, we were number nine on this list, which was quite an honor at that time. This year, to be number 3 out of 106 companies in that category, behind Alpenrose Dairy and Reser's Fine Foods, is a great honor, let alone being selected in the first place. It tells me we are providing a consistently excellent experience with our products and services. We're pleased we were chosen; we have a lot to be proud of at Boyds."

To generate the rankings for Oregon's Most Admired Companies, the Portland Business Journal contacted some 1,800 CEOs and top-level managers in Oregon and Southwest Washington, and asked them to select three companies they most admired in eight industries: technology, health care, nonprofits, financial services, professional services, commercial real estate, traditional manufacturing and agriculture and forest products. Then, within each category, companies the CEOs named received points depending on whether they were listed as first, second or third. The points were then tabulated.

In addition to receiving an award plaque, the Portland Business Journal profiled Boyd Coffee Company in its "Most Admired Companies" supplement.
